LoveYourBrain: Yoga, Meditation and Community Support w/ Joanna Castles

We could all learn to show ourselves a little more love. This workshop will focus on compassion and self love, specifically related to those who have suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and to those affected by one. Over a million Canadians live with the effects of a TBI, ranging from concussions to more severe head trauma. Yoga and meditation have been proven to help provide therapeutic benefits in the healing process.


  • 15 min intro/education on brain injury, LYB and how yoga and meditation can help heal
  • 15 min guided meditation
  • 60 min gentle yoga practice
  • 30 minute community support session

 Joanna (a.k.a Jo) teaches several styles of yoga at Moksha Yoga Kingston. Jo strongly identifies with the Moksha Pillar of Community, volunteering her time for various organizations whenever she can. Having suffered a traumatic brain injury herself, she quickly jumped onboard the LoveYourBrain team completing the first Canadian LoveYourBrain Yoga teacher Training in Ottawa, October 2017. Truly believing in the healing powers of yoga and meditation practices, Jo strives to make these practices accessible to all.

The LoveYourBrain (LYB) Foundation is a non-profit organization that aims to improve the quality of life of people affected by TBI (traumatic brain injury) and raise awareness about the importance of brain health. LYB embodies a positive approach to brain injury prevention, healing and health. Their goal is to support people affected by TBI to connect, heal and thrive through research-driven, accessible yoga and meditation practices.
